Examination Rules & Regulations

At Techno International Batanagar (TIB), the Examination Rules & Regulations are designed to ensure a transparent, fair, and disciplined approach to assessing the academic progress of our students. The purpose of these regulations is to maintain the integrity of the examination process while creating a conducive environment for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.

General Examination Guidelines

  1. Eligibility for Examination
    • To be eligible to appear for the end-semester examinations, students must have:
      • A minimum of 75% attendance in both theory and practical sessions for each course, as per the Attendance Rules & Regulations.
      • Completed all internal assessments, assignments, quizzes, and projects for the respective subjects.
  2. Examination Timetable
    • The Examination Timetable for both mid-semester and end-semester exams will be published well in advance by the Examination Cell. It will be available on the official website and the notice board.
    • Students are advised to check the timetable regularly for any changes or updates.
  3. Examination Hall Procedure
    • Students must be present in the examination hall at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
    • Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the examination hall under any circumstances after the exam has begun.
    • Students must carry their college ID cards and admit cards to the examination hall. Entry without these documents will not be permitted.
    • Students should only carry the necessary materials into the examination hall, such as pens, pencils, erasers, and calculators (if allowed). No electronic devices, such as mobile phones, smartwatches, or any unauthorized materials, are permitted.
  4. Behavior in the Examination Hall
    • Students are expected to behave in a respectful and disciplined manner during examinations.
    • Talking, whispering, or making any noise during the examination is strictly prohibited.
    • Cheating, plagiarism, or any form of malpractice during exams will result in severe disciplinary action. Students caught cheating will be immediately disqualified from the examination and may face suspension or expulsion from the college.
  5. Question Paper Format
    • The question papers for both theory and practical exams will be based on the syllabus prescribed for the respective courses.
    • Students must ensure they understand the exam pattern (e.g., multiple-choice questions, descriptive questions, practical tests) before the exam.
  6. Answer Sheet Submission
    • Students are required to submit their answer sheets at the end of the examination. The invigilators will collect all the sheets at the conclusion of the exam.
    • Any student found with an incomplete answer sheet or a missing question paper will be disqualified, and the incident will be reported to the Examination Committee.

Special Examination Rules

  1. Mid-Semester Examinations
    • Mid-semester exams are held to evaluate the progress of students at the mid-point of the semester.
    • These exams are mandatory for all students and carry a significant weight in the final assessment for each subject.
    • In case of absence due to genuine reasons (illness or emergencies), students must submit valid documentation (e.g., a medical certificate) to the Examination Cell. Special arrangements or supplementary exams may be provided for such cases.
  2. Supplementary Examinations
    • Students who miss the regular end-semester exams due to medical or other valid reasons may be allowed to sit for supplementary exams.
    • Supplementary exams are generally held after the commencement of the new semester or during breaks.
    • Students who fail to clear an exam in the regular session will be provided with supplementary exams during the next available opportunity.
  3. Revaluation and Retotaling
    • If students are dissatisfied with their exam results, they have the option to apply for revaluation or retotaling of their answer sheets.
    • The application must be submitted within the prescribed period after the results are declared, along with the necessary fee.
    • The Revaluation Committee will assess the request, and the decision will be final.
  4. Compartmental Exams
    • If a student fails in one or more subjects, they may be eligible for compartmental exams in the subsequent semester, depending on the specific rules of the department.
    • These exams are offered to students who have failed in only one subject and need to clear it to continue with their studies.

Code of Conduct During Examinations

  1. Examination Staff Instructions
    • Students must follow all instructions provided by the invigilators during examinations.
    • Any student found violating the instructions or creating disturbances will be immediately reported to the Examination Committee.
  2. Electronic Devices
    • Mobile phones, smartwatches, and any other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the examination hall. If found, they will be confiscated, and the student may face disciplinary action.
  3. Personal Belongings
    • Students should leave their personal belongings (bags, books, notes, etc.) in the designated area outside the examination hall. Only the necessary items (e.g., stationery) should be kept in the examination area.
  4. Zero-Tolerance for Malpractice
    • Any form of malpractice (e.g., cheating, copying, using unauthorized materials, or impersonation) is treated as a serious offense and will result in immediate disqualification from the exam, along with potential suspension or expulsion from the college.
    • Students must immediately report any suspected malpractice to the invigilators.

Examination Results and Feedback

  1. Result Declaration
    • End-semester exam results will be declared within 2-3 weeks from the last date of exams and will be available through the college’s Student Information System (SIS) or via official notifications.
  2. Result Feedback
    • Students are encouraged to review their results and approach the faculty for any clarifications or doubts regarding the evaluation.
    • If there is any discrepancy in the result, students may raise their concerns with the Examination Cell within the specified period.
  3. Grade System
    • The evaluation system follows a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) grading system, with grades assigned based on performance in theory exams, practical exams, and internal assessments.
    • The grading system follows a standard scale, and students can access their grades and detailed results via the college’s portal.
